Spending time with Grandma and Grandpa
Being silly in the kitchen with Melanie
We enjoyed spending time with friends and family over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was great seeing everyone! We can't wait until next year when David will be able to enjoy the yummy food with us. I don't think organic sweet potatoes and bananas will cut it then. We did try to give him a taste of cousin Tracy's mashed potatoes, but that did not go over well at all. We ended up with an extremely fussy baby at the Thanksgiving dinner table. David has never been one to adapt well to change; I think the texture of the mashed potatoes really threw him off. The only downfall to our holiday was David ended up getting his first cold; or that is what I believe it to be at the moment. On Saturday afternoon he started getting a stuffy nose and today on our way home it turned to a full blown runny nose, which is so hard because the little guy HATES when you wipe off his face and we have been having to do this every 5 minutes. He also developed a little cough, which we are monitoring. A phone call to the pediatrician and a day with mommy tomorrow should hopefully make my baby feel better. Poor guy. It just breaks my heart seeing him this way.
On a lighter note, David turned 8 months last week and there are a few things that have come along with it. His vocabulary is continuing to grow; he has said "mama" for a few months now but normally it occurs when he is fussy. We are not really sure if he knows the true meaning of his words, but it makes me happy thinking he may know even if it is when he is fussing. As seen in the video on our last post David can now say "DaDa." This actually occurs when he is happy; figures! He has learned over the past week that he can really have a great time in the bath tub, especially when this includes getting mommy wet in the process! Yep, he has figured out how to splash and he loves it. It is so funny to watch too because he gets this look of determination on his face as he hits the water over and over again. We have also learned to wave "bye-bye." I always wave to him when I leave in the morning and the week before last he actually waved back. I was truly amazed that he actually put the two together. It is our new favorite thing.
