Family, Friends and Turkey!

Thanksgiving 2008
Our Family

Spending time with Grandma and Grandpa

Best Friends

Being silly in the kitchen with Melanie

We enjoyed spending time with friends and family over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was great seeing everyone! We can't wait until next year when David will be able to enjoy the yummy food with us. I don't think organic sweet potatoes and bananas will cut it then. We did try to give him a taste of cousin Tracy's mashed potatoes, but that did not go over well at all. We ended up with an extremely fussy baby at the Thanksgiving dinner table. David has never been one to adapt well to change; I think the texture of the mashed potatoes really threw him off. The only downfall to our holiday was David ended up getting his first cold; or that is what I believe it to be at the moment. On Saturday afternoon he started getting a stuffy nose and today on our way home it turned to a full blown runny nose, which is so hard because the little guy HATES when you wipe off his face and we have been having to do this every 5 minutes. He also developed a little cough, which we are monitoring. A phone call to the pediatrician and a day with mommy tomorrow should hopefully make my baby feel better. Poor guy. It just breaks my heart seeing him this way.

On a lighter note, David turned 8 months last week and there are a few things that have come along with it. His vocabulary is continuing to grow; he has said "mama" for a few months now but normally it occurs when he is fussy. We are not really sure if he knows the true meaning of his words, but it makes me happy thinking he may know even if it is when he is fussing. As seen in the video on our last post David can now say "DaDa." This actually occurs when he is happy; figures! He has learned over the past week that he can really have a great time in the bath tub, especially when this includes getting mommy wet in the process! Yep, he has figured out how to splash and he loves it. It is so funny to watch too because he gets this look of determination on his face as he hits the water over and over again. We have also learned to wave "bye-bye." I always wave to him when I leave in the morning and the week before last he actually waved back. I was truly amazed that he actually put the two together. It is our new favorite thing.

Hoosier Daddy?

As promised, in honor of Grammy and Pappa's Alma Mater. We cannot wait to see you all in a few weeks!! Also, David has added a new addition to his vocabulary. So sweet.

Brrr.....It's cold outside!

The first big cold front for the season finally came in this weekend and it has been really nice! Now, when I say cold most of you will laugh because the highs have been around 60 degrees and the low last night was 32 degrees....but hey that's cold for Houston.

Things have definitely been busy around here lately. Thanks to the help of our fellow bloggers and close friends I think we may have the leaky diaper situation under control for now. Over the past week David has cut his bottom two teeth and he has been a bear! He has a new found interest in the the little pointy things in his mouth. This has led to his newest and favorite thing....clicking his tongue! He will pretty much do it on cue if you start clicking your tongue first. I tried to get a video of it earlier, but instead we were able to catch him laughing!! This is honestly amazing because unfortunately he does not laugh often. When he gets excited he typically makes a panting noise; pretty much like the dog and we assume that is where he picked it up from. Just a week ago we heard him laugh for the first time. We were all sitting around the table eating lunch and Dave started choking on his sandwich which Tripp thought was hilarious; sad to say he has a sick sense of humor. We've tried silly faces, tickling, scherberts...you name it and Daddy choking was what deserved a full blown giggling and laughing session. We think this is somewhat due to the fake coughing that he seems to find amusing. Enjoy the video....Dave was behind me pretending like he was choking!

Motherly Advice Needed....

Okay so we are struggling around here lately with leaky diapers. The past two mornings I have woke up to a wet baby; I have felt awful about this. He is so active at night and it seems like his diaper is leaking when he curls up into a ball. We were very pleased with Pampers Swaddlers for his first 5 months, but he has become such a big boy that we are already in size 3 diapers!! We started using the Pampers Baby Dry, but I am quickly getting tired of washing sheets and putting his crib back together everyday.....man this is alot of work! So, I figured before going out and buying every diaper ever made to test their true standing against leakage I would reach out to all you mothers out there to get opinions on what diapers you have had success with???? It will be interesting to see if there is a consensus. Have a great Thursday everyone!

hAppY hAlloWeeN!!

This was one cranky lobster! We've had a tough week; aches from his first tooth that has yet to come in but is causing so much pain, a stuffy nose and his 2nd flu shot. He has been abnormally fussy and I don't blame him, who wouldn't be? We had an eventful afternoon yesterday after his flu shot and he was in great spirits while we were out shopping. Unfortunately, this threw off his napping schedule and he refused to sleep once we got home....which led to the cranky lobster. When time came to get him in his costume and snap pictures he had his mind made up that it was time for bed. He was a great sport and humored us for a little, but time came for night night and he was out before the first round of trick or treaters rang the doorbell. Oh well, there is always next year!

My little pumpkin, Mommy and Daddy love you so much even when you are cranky!
