9 months

{blogging from germany and cannot post pictures. we'll be back on saturday}

Happy 9 month birthday my little man! Goodness, it is hard to believe that you have been out exploring this crazy world as long as you were inside your mommy's tummy. We've enjoyed watching you learn so much over the past 9 months and cannot imagine what our lives would be like without you. Your mommy and daddy love you very much. Here are some updates on what you have been up to.

9 month stats:
height: 29.5 inches (90 percentile)
weight: 20 lbs (25-50 percentile)

9 things we want to remember:

1. You are such a happy baby. You are constantly smiling and over the past month your expressions have reached a new level. You get giddy when something makes you happy; you tighten your fists and shake with a huge smile. Usually there is a noise involved. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen. Our other favorite moment is first thing in the morning when you wake up. You are usually happy playing in your crib by yourself for a little while, but you absolutely light up when we come to get you.

2. You have yet to crawl. I think you are just happy sitting in one spot or just being held. We have managed to catch you practicing getting up on your hands and knees, but it is short lived.

3. You are such a ham and love watching videos of your self. It is a great distraction when you are fussy. I will play you the videos on the camera and it makes you so happy.

4. You now have 3 teeth and the fourth is on the way. Daddy cannot wait to give you steak!

5. You still LOVE music. You know your favorite songs and you light up when we turn them on for you.

6. You are so long; stats above. This has made it a little difficult shopping for you. Most pants are too short and if I get bigger sizes they are long enough but falling off of you. You are so long that you no longer fit in you car seat a.k.a. baby carrier. Mommy and Daddy are going to have to purchase a big boy seat when we get back. You have also been mistaken several times for being a lot older than you really are. We'll see if this stays with you; future longhorn quarterback on our hands???

7. You are a picky eater. You don't mind if you skip a meal and sometimes really have no interest in food at all. You do however enjoy sips of our water. We think it makes you feel like a big boy when we let you drink out of the glass; no interest in sippy cups. We have started giving you some finger foods and you consistently make faces when they reach your mouth. However, you have liked the pommes (french fries) here in Germany; hate to admit this but we have been out to eat alot and when we get desperate this seems to keep you happy at the table.

8. You are still a little chatter box and love screaming and mimicking your daddy. As much as I hate to say it, Dada is your first word and you love saying it. You did however get fussy at dinner the other night in grammy's lap and reach out to me and said "mama." Grammy and I were shocked.

9. You just absolutely love your mommy and your daddy. Even though you have yet to experience stranger anxiety and will go to pretty much anyone who holds their hands out to you, you still prefer mommy and daddy. You are so sweet and express your feelings with a smile and a happy sigh when you see us. I believe you try to give kisses every now and then; mouth wide open aimed at our faces.

Sweet post. Evan never crawled but walked at a normal time. He was very content sitting, as well! Hope y'all had a nice trip.

I back the music number. I've never seen a baby laugh and smile so much when music is played. I know he will be a famous musician someday. :) Love, Melanie
